Everyone loves a good deal. Another way of saying that is everyone loves a good value. You want to feel like you’ve gotten more than your money’s worth when you make a purchase.

That holds true in every area of life but maybe especially when it comes to shopping for pistols.

After all, in how many other areas of interest can you buy something starting at under $200 to over $2,000 for what many people don’t know the difference between them? In fact, only people immersed in the firearms world will understand those nuances between the low priced and higher priced options.

Even people who understand those differences, though, want to feel that they received good value for their money when they buy a gun, so with that in mind, one writer, Brian Fitzpatrick, compiled a list of his seven favorite semiautomatic pistols under $700. Here are the pistols that Fitzpatrick listed along with our commentary:

  1. Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 – This latest model of the Bodyguard line has received quite a bit of praise for both its concealability and how well it shoots. If you’re looking for something on the smaller size that still feels good when using it at the range, this may be one to consider.
  2. Walther PDP – It’s Walther, whose designs may be the most copied of all current firearms manufacturers (yes, maybe even more then Glock overall). Walther’s are known for solid performance (why else would they be so commonly copied?) and value for what you pay.
  3. Ruger RXM – Ruger has a solid reputation in the American market, and the RXM gives you the option of taking a Ruger and customizing it in many ways which may appeal to Glock fans.
  4. Tisas 1911 Carry Stingray – The ever-popular 1911 is going to be a winner in many people’s books. Tisas has done a beautiful job with the aesthetics for this gun, and the reviews are saying that shooting it is a dream. If you’re a 1911 fan, this may be the one for you to consider.
  5. Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro Comp OSP – Springfield Armory’s Hellcat has been a wildly popular double-stack subcompact pistol over the last several years. This model includes a built-in compensator along with being optics ready. If you’re looking for something with all of the bells and whistles, this may be one to check out.
  6. Taurus GX4 – Taurus has a reputation for being a budget pistol manufacturer, but don’t conflate budget with poor quality. The GX4 gets great reviews, and many people who can afford more expensive pistols choose to carry Taurus pistols for their daily carry because they simply love the guns. Worth checking out for your next pistol purchase, especially if you’re on a budget.
  7. Sig Sauer P365 TACPAC – The P365 is one of the most popular carry guns currently on the market. Fitzpatrick specifically likes the TACPAC because it includes a holster and three magazines with the pistol, giving you a lot of bang for your buck.

Truth be told, any of these options would likely be a great choice for your next pistol purchase, though, of course, which one that you go with will depend on your specific needs and your personal preferences.

Whether you choose one of these seven or something completely different, there are plenty of options on the market available to choose from. Happy shopping!
