If there was ever any question in your mind that some politicians have completely lost their grasp on the reality of life outside of their bubbles in state capitals or Washington, D.C., today’s story will clear up that question pretty quick. It’s almost unbelievable.
So, here’s the situation: imagine that you are living in poverty or near poverty. That means that, frankly, you’re just trying to pay your rent or mortgage, pay your utilities so that you have running water and heat during the winter, and put food on the table. If you’re living at that level, you’re not likely to have much in the way of “luxuries.” You’re probably going to the library to use their free wifi, in other words, instead of paying for cable internet at your house.
And speaking of your house, if you’re living at that level, you’re much more likely to be living in or near a higher crime area. That’s just the statistical reality. So, that being the case, if you’ve scraped together the funds to buy yourself an inexpensive firearm to protect yourself and your family, what should the government do to help you to be able to protect yourself?
Well, according to Democrat lawmakers in one state, apparently, you should be shelling out more of the money that you don’t have so that you can keep your family safe when that same lawmaker is defunding the police. I’m not kidding. Ryan Morgan writes,
Democrats in the Maryland state legislature have proposed new legislation that would bar gun owners from carrying their firearms in public without also having at least $300,000 in liability coverage for property damage, injury, or death claims arising from their firearm.
The bill, introduced by Maryland state Del. Terri Hill, states: “A person may not wear or carry a firearm unless the person has obtained and is covered by liability insurance issued by an insurer authorized to do business in the state under the Insurance Article. This insurance is designed to cover claims for property damage, bodily injury, or death arising from an accident resulting from the person’s use or storage of a firearm. The coverage limit for damages arising from the same incident is up to $300,000, in addition to interest and costs.”
Now, for the law-abiding person living in poverty (you know, the kind of person who especially needs to be able to protect themselves), Democrats in Maryland want to make it harder for them to do so.
That’s absolutely absurd.
If anything, the Maryland government should be making it easier for law-abiding people to protect themselves. Because Democrats trying to defund the police and bailing out rioters certainly isn’t keeping anyone safe.
The people of Maryland deserve better than more of this leftist nonsense.
The insurance scheme is the Democrat Party’s new way of violating the 2nd admendment and taking our Rights. A similar Bill has been proposed in Washington state.
So are the people of that State Still going to elect Commiecrats? You get what you vote for.
The way Dems in Maryland operate… they curry the vote of a majority of voters with their “giveaways” and Republicans or Independents have little chance to influence the election results.
That’s why Dems are mob rule, but thank God America is a REPUBLIC which stands for Individual LIBERTY and FREEDOM !
What you may noy realize is that there are more red counties in Maryland than blue counties. The reason dems keep getting elected here is because the cities in the state have enough population to cancel out all of the more rural red counties. Believe me, we dont vote for them. The inner city rats vote for their handouts and the rest of us just dont matter.
Shane – that ‘tactic’ is employed in many (most?) other ‘blue’ states as well. It is a classic example of why the Founders instituted the Electoral College system in order to prevent such a result on the national level. And of course that is why the left wants to do away with that system.
What a crock of doodoo!! When I was younger I had to hunt deer in order to put food on the table for my children. I never could’ve afforded insurance then and can’t afford it now.

A few notable factors: Dividing the number of privately owned guns in the United States into the economic damage done by legally owned guns the cost of the policies ought be negligible. The likelihood criminals would be buying insurance is minimal; leave them out of the pool, as well as otherwise law abiding citizens who are carrying but are uninsured. Insurers wouldn’t be liable for damages caused by them. I can’t see insurers paying for damage/injury by any but a policy holder. I don’t know how to factor in damages caused by law enforcement. I assume the state/municipality is liable – and probably carries their own insurance. The absurdity of this is that the vast majority of damages/injuries will be by people who are (illegally) uninsured. I’d look for who just bought stock in an insurance company…

Don’t have to “Breach of there oath of office is enough to get them kicked out and may even go to prison, check it out (( Title 5 U.S.C. Sections 7311 & 1333, then look up the penalty for breaching one oath of office ! The big question is why is no one doing it ? and having them arrested !
