There is nothing more vile, no one more deserving of contempt and disgust than a child molester. Our children deserve to grow up being kept safely away from people who would steal their innocence and seriously injured them in body, mind, and spirit.
So, when I come across stories like today’s story, my immediate thought is “Good for you!” to the parent that took action to protect their children.
And that’s exactly what we’re talking about today: a mother who intervened while a convicted child molester was “allegedly” trying to rape her daughter (hat tip to here for the lead). Luke McCoy writes,
A mother shot a convicted child molester multiple times after allegedly catching him attempting to sexually assault her 12-year-old daughter inside a hotel room, according to court documents and police reports.
The incident occurred on May 24 at the Baymont Inn located on Eagle View Drive on the west side of Indianapolis. As reported by WIBC, the mother had briefly left her daughter in a hotel room with 34-year-old Bruce Pierce while she went to her vehicle. When she returned, she discovered Pierce on top of her daughter, attempting to remove her clothing.
McCoy continues:
Court documents state that when the mother returned to the room, she heard her daughter saying “No, no, no” and saw Pierce pinning the girl to the bed while ripping her clothes. The mother then drew her firearm and shot Pierce multiple times.
I have to say that the reporting on this situation makes it sound like a pretty clear cut case of a Mama Bear protecting her young.
And if, God forbid, a parent finds themself in that type of situation, they should do everything that they can to protect their child up to and including this kind of defensive use of violence, too.
