One thing that you can count on in this world is that gun control advocates world-wide are an unforgiving lot. They’ll take any and every opportunity to ruin your life and crush your world if you disagree with them on that issue (or, typically, any issue on the political left, which is where those folks tend to be).
But, remember, these are the folks calling for “tolerance.”
The hypocrisy is truly staggering, and the damage that one of those zealots can cause to an innocent person’s life is massive. Imagine trying to put a person in jail for twelve years just because four bullets (but no firearm) was found in your luggage because it got missed when you cleaned out your luggage on returning home from your most recent hunting trip.
But that’s exactly what one couple is having to deal with right now. Paul Sacca writes,
An American man’s dream vacation has turned into a nightmare. He is now facing 12 years in a Turks and Caicos prison after four rounds of hunting ammunition were found in his luggage.
Ryan Watson, 40, was looking for rest and relaxation when he went on a tropical vacation with his wife to the Caribbean island of Turks and Caicos. However, Watson said that he had been subjected to “terrifying interrogation” and exorbitant living fees after Turks and Caicos authorities discovered four rounds of hunting ammo in his luggage.
Watson and his wife traveled to Turks and Caicos in early April to celebrate friends’ 40th birthdays. On April 12, security at the Howard Hamilton International Airport found four rounds of ammo “unknowingly left in a duffel bag from a deer hunting trip,” according to a GoFundMe post made on behalf of the family.
The couple – from Oklahoma – were able to get through security with the ammo at their local Will Rogers World Airport.Â
The couple was arrested and interrogated by law enforcement in Turks and Caicos. Watson’s wife has been released and allowed to return home to be with their children, and Watson is out on bail, now. However, Watson had to give up his passport and isn’t being allowed to leave the island as conditions of his bail while waiting on his court date.
How horrible would it be if this happened to you and your family?
All over a small mistake that, frankly, wouldn’t have had the remotest possibility of affecting anyone in the Turks and Caicos since Watson didn’t have a firearm with him. Just four rounds of ammunition.
Four.
This is why you have to be hyper vigilant when traveling. You have to know the gun laws where you are traveling to and through, and you have to make sure that you don’t have anything that might cause a crazy anti-gun LEO from putting you in jail.
Because anti-gun zealots will do that, if they can find any excuse at all.
